How I got into the business of graphic design…
I come from an artistic family and my idea of extra curricular activities was spending Saturday mornings at the Arts Students League in New York. Once in college I split my major between fine and applied arts and found my true passion in graphic design. It is the perfect combination of fine art principles and problem-solving. This double challenge still intrigues me many years later.
Throughout my career I embraced the challenges of a deeply changing industry, starting out with drawing and typesetting skills to the huge change-over to digital creation and production, then to web design requiring another unique expertise.
Luckily, Atlanta provides many industry-related organizations to keep me informed and involved. I have been an active volunteer with The Freelance Forum and the Atlanta WordPress Users Group and participate in marketing and graphic design events.
My early jobs were with agencies and design firms in Philadelphia where I absorbed the ins and outs from industry masters. I eventually moved into full-time freelancing which sharpened client relationship skills and the business of running a business. When I moved to Atlanta in 2000 I left my main client behind and devoted myself full time to growing
my business.
The result is a list of Atlanta-based clients ranging from consultants to specialized industries many of whom are repeat customers. And the list is growing.
